Before the overuse of slo-mo, before the Wachowski brothers screwed themselves over, one movie changed movies for the new century. Bullet time had no yet been put to use. Wire work had not come into frequential use. And Sydney remained an untapped resource of film production. Whilst the technological aspects f the Matrix are what drew people in, that didn't mean that plot was neglected. Indeed it was not until the third viewing that it all fell into place. Lawrence Fishburnes' voice is as iconic as James Earl Jones now, and Keanu Reeves finally found a place to fit in properly. He's still as wooden as timber though, but he needed to be for this role! With some of the best action scenes mixed in with one of the most complicated scripts, The Matrix defines itself as the beginning of a movement of action films, that none live up to. Not even its subsequent below par sequels.
