When I first saw dune as a kid in the late 80's my immediate reaction was why is Captain Picard in a sand movie with a young male porn star? I was always fascinated by it's strange world and dark tone. The image of the evacuees barely escaping doom when the giant worm open it's mouth to swallow them whole will always burned into my memory.
