Cats is officially coming to a living room near you! Following the film's December release, the Broadway musical turned box-office catastrophe was released for digital purchase on platforms like iTunes, Prime Video, FandangoNow, Google Play, and Vudu on March 17. Yes, that means you can now see Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, and many more stars dance, sing, and shake their tails as cat-human hybrids from the comfort of your own home. No word yet on whether the digital version will fix those CGI mistakes in the theatrical release. If you don't want to pay the full price, you can rent the film starting on April 7, when it will be made available on Blu-ray and DVD. So grab your catnip of choice and get ready to go on a trippy ride as you watch the film.

Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2019 I highly recommend Cats to anybody who appreciates existential horror and films that make you question life and the universe. You will not be the same person after you finish watching Cats, It can never be unseen, and the feelings of doubt it leaves you with are not to be underestimated. Im still not sure if I am alive right now or if I had a massive stroke in the theater and died. Is Hell a life in which one has seen Cats and forever is cursed to have the memories of their bizarre sexual undulations ingrained in your memories? A movie so fundamentally broken that they had to rush an improved version out to theaters after spending 100 million dollars to make it. Watch this movie with the knowledge that more money went into this than you will ever see in your entire life, then you will know true despair.

Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2019 Cats (2019) is the best film of all time, paws down. Tom Hooper already showed he can master Broadway musicals on screen with Les Mis, so I’m glad he was given the pick of the litter that led him to direct this cat-sterpiece. Let’s start with the cast: Practically Purrfect in every way. Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, and Jason DeRulo should really seek out musical careers, they are that good. Idris Elba is magical as Macavity, but he was so evil that it made me so mad that I was furryous. Ian McKellen must have been studying cats before this film, much like Andy Serkis studied apes for King Kong and Planet of the Apes, as he acts EXACTLY like one, it’s uncanny. Now, for the real treat: the CGI, which must stand for Cats Gorgeously Identical, because they really made the people look just like cats. Cats will make Skimbleshanks, Mistoffelees, Bustopher Jones, Rum Tum Tugger, Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie into household names. I’m so jellically jealous of anyone who got to take part in this piece of cinematic hiss-tory. At the end, the crowd roared. Who wouldn’t enjoy this timeless tail? I can’t wait to sink my claws into the Blu-ray!

Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2019 This was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL film. Amazing musical score, choreography, cinematography and performances. I've seen it once and I plan to again. Don't listen to the naysayers. Just go and judge for yourself. I'm pre-ordering the Bluray. Can't wait to add it to my movie musical collection. Update: 12/27/19-Saw Cats for the 2nd time yesterday, and the audience obviously loved it, because everyone was super quiet throughout the 2 hr running time. I swear, you cd hear a pin drop. Very different from the 1st audience that I saw it with, who were laughing out loud. 2nd audience's respect is proof that there is an audience out there for this film. Unfortunately-The negative power of social media obviously resulted in people allowing themselves to hop aboard the very popular trend of "It's really cool to hate something simply because everyone else hates it" train. Ironically enough-Many, many people who pulled this movie down haven't even seen it, but are still tearing it to shreds anyway. Imo-that render's their uninformed opinions irrelevant and useless. Lastly-I an a professional actor/singer who has been working in the theater for 40 yrs. I know quality musical theater/movie musicals when I see them, and "Cats" is the real deal. It's every bit as magical and whimsical as the original 1964 Mary Poppins and 1971's Willy Wonka. Btw-the latter film bombed at the box-office BIG-TIME upon it's initial release. In the yrs since, it has found a HUGE audience and it's now considered a film classic. I predict that "Cats" will find a similar devoted audience sometime in the future.

Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2020 It took 38 years for the musical to make it to the big screen and it then became the worst movie of the year. Absolute torture to sit through. Re-watch The Aristocats, That Darn Cat or even Cat Women From the Moon instead.

Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2019 I just saw the movie and loved this version. It was pure entertainment. Nice seeing Les Twins (1st season winners of "World of Dance") do their Hip Hop, the young lady who played Victoria (Francesca Hayward) was a beautiful dancer. I would say she was the star of the show. The costumes were truly realistic. (One mistake though is calico cats are female, not male, as Mungojerrie was calico. ) Dame Judith Dench as Old Deuteronomy was wonderful. At first I thought, a female playing a male role, but it was great. She's a great actress and you can see she enjoyed playing this role. Robbie Fairchild as Munkustrap (the alpha male of the "tribe") was also worth watching. His singing and dancing were perfect. Idris Elba as Macavity could have over played the role and stolen the show, but he didn't. He held back and fit in perfectly with the rest of the cast. No one overshadowed anyone else and the story line altered a little to make the movie was easy to understand. Jennifer Hudson as Grizabella rocked. She made you feel her pain as she sang Memories. I can't wait to have my own copy of this Movie. Yes, it's light weight entertainment, but there's nothing wrong with that. No car chases, gun fights, fisticuffs, etc. Just great music, singing and dancing.
