Gotta love the auteurs in the comments trying to explain how the film was actually excellent and went over people's heads. The film was a beautiful, disjointed mess with mediocre writing and paper-thin characters. After a really solid opening, it becomes a mish-mash of unsettling and gratuitous scenes that had little to do with the overarching plot and simply exist to be unsettling and gratuitous. The underlying breakup story that is the heart of the film's narrative is frustratingly one-dimensional so you can see the ending coming a mile away. And this is coming from someone who loves Hereditary and would rate it among the best of all-time.
