Sandler's performance was stunning but we've gotta give credit where its due: the safdie brothers are complete masters of their craft with such a clear vision of what they want its unbelievable. ten years ago they knew adam sandler was the guy to portray howie. putting the concept/script aside so they could eventually get sandler after they had some other films under their belt is crazy. that's such a deep commitment to their story and their vision that you just don't see much in hollywood anymore, too many directors are ready to compromise on their true vision. the safdies are something special and they've got the hard work to back it up.
